Easter Picnic Announced
The Orlando Russian Culture Society has announced a picnic in the park to commemorate Easter (Paskha in Russian) on April 19, 2009. The date of Orthodox Easter, however, is not fixed on the same day every year, but is calculated according to a table that dates back to Julius Caesar in 45 BC (hence the Julian Calendar).
Plans include renting a pavilion at Moss Park in Orlando Florida and cooking “Shashlik” on the grill. Other traditional Russian activities for Easter are planned. For full details, visit the Society’s website: www.OrlandoRussians.com
